“If we go to war, we could lose all we’ve built”

Watching my absolute favourite trilogy of all time: Part 2

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is another masterpiece in this incredible trilogy and one of my favourite films. It delivers a compelling, action packed and emotionally charged cinematic experience. Matt Reeves manages to take the franchise to brand new heights, seamlessly blending groundbreaking effects with a thought provoking and engaging narrative. It is a testament to the…

Probably my favourite film of all time! and despite me already thinking The Revenant is one of the best films ever made, it somehow after countless watches ( maybe my most watched ever) it continues to somehow improve in my eyes, each and every time, I love it!!

I will never know how this isn't talked about more because I truly think it is nothing short of perfection! every shot is like a vivid oil painting of natural beauty, with…

Spooktober Year 2: Part 7: First entry watched with my mom and my friend nightwing (accounts below)

Saw is easily one of the more deceptive films out there. Because considering the genre of horror it spawned and the reputation it still holds, it's actually nothing more than a surprisingly clever and intense mystery thriller, that held up more on a rewatch than I expected.

    Spooktober Year 2: Part 6

Admittedly, I may be getting slightly carried away after my first watch, but I personally loved The Night House because It's exactly what I want from a dark, atmospheric thriller/horror. It beautifully unfolds its interesting mystery with perfect precision though a combination of just the right amount of traditional horror 'scares' and great camerawork, and an incredible lead performance from Rebecca Hall that I personally think rivals some of the best of the genre.

An incredible metaphor for grief and loss, that's surprisingly original and super effective. Well worth your time.

"I'd rather not spend the rest of this winter tied to this FUCKING COUCH!!"

    Spooktober Year 2: Part 1

The Thing is sheer horror perfection, perfectly crafted by the legendary John Carpenter that has not aged in the slightest since 1982! Which continues to somehow get better and better on each and every rewatch.

Great acting, eye-wateringly good effects that often put modern cinema to shame, and incredible cinematography that still blows my mind. All come together to make one…

    Richard Jewell

I love a great biopic, and even more so when I'm clueless about the historical moment it's depicting, such as the case here. And while Richard Jewell is admittedly 'just another biopic' in the sense it doesn't do anything particularly unique for the genre (although I'd argue it doesn't necessarily have to), I still think this an example of a truly great biopic.

The most important thing for me in this type of film, is whether the audience becomes emotionally…
