Jess’s review published on Letterboxd:
I have a lot of complicated and largely negative feelings about this being a portrait of Diana Spencer (no matter how much it’s framed as a “fable”, as per the opening card). However, as a portrait of a complex woman in a stifling, oppressive environment that has stolen away her privacy, her safety, and her sense of self? I really liked it. There were so many details that worked to build this woman and her story in a very compelling way (though I’ll admit this style of filmmaking is definitely not for everyone). But they did not build Princess Diana. They built this fictional character, Diana. And I’m not totally comfortable with the way those two have been conflated.
