Some of my reviews are cringe. Sorry in advance.
Maybe my favourite Kurosawa film (there’s so many I still haven’t seen), I’d say go watch Kyle Kallgren’s review on YouTube if you want a better explanation of why this film is great but in short this film’s translation of Macbeth to feudal Japan is brilliant and it’s maybe the closest Kurosawa came to making a horror film. The gothic mood is so immersive and the on-location sets near Mt. Fuji are so impressive with the use of fog and rain. An absolute masterpiece by a guy who made a tonne of them.
