now, look. there shouldn't be more neon on the poster than there is in the film. if your fun 80s wacky action romp starring hot women and pedro pascal is disappointing to me, the most easily pleased woman alive, then you have only yourself to blame. i can't begin to emphasise how low my standards are. i told my friend this was bad and he said "it takes a lot for you to respond negatively". unfortunately, one of my standards for a neon action adventure film is "must have neon, action, and adventure". i can't begrudge it too much, as i did get queer representation in the shop assistant who is CLEARLY gay for kristen wiig in a bodycon dress (when will hollywood stop trying to force us to accept that women wearing glasses are hideous beasts from the depths of hell? especially when her "dorky" 80s outfits are now wildly fashionable.) also i got to see pedro pescal point at people vigorously, and give enthusiastic thumbs up to anyone who looks at him. but he stops doing that about 20 minutes in, so. the cgi is distractingly bad and the comedy is boring. for some reason they made steve an idiot? not like a funny "wow the future is so weird!" idiot, but a "can't follow basic logical reasoning" idiot. i genuinely thought that he would turn out to be some sort of simulacrum. but no, it's him, and he spends 90% of the film going "whaaaah???" whenever diana does a cool jump. wonder woman sleeps on silk sheets. i demand a version of wonder woman where diana is poor!!!!!!
