Letterboxd — Your life in film

There are things to like throughout, but overall it’s a little too bloated and stuffed with questionable storytelling decisions for me.

Superior to the 1961 version despite a handful of its own flaws.

Interesting. I didn’t like the movie, but certain parts and elements grabbed me. Looking forward to this filmmaker’s next movie.

Cumberbatch is amazing. Wish others had more to do, but suppose that gripe’s a factor of the source material. Glad I hadn’t read the novel going in.

Surprisingly weird. Very Succession. Great Christmas hang.

Admired the look of the movie and really enjoyed it when the two leads were together. Really lost me during large swaths though. Looking forward to Hall’s next movie.

Just really bad.

First rewatch after 1999 theatrical release. Really hold up. The middle drags a bit. Feels like a 60 minute move stretched to 80+ to hit feature runtime. Wish some of the middle was cut and replaced with more buildup before entering the woods. All and all, pretty great movie tho.

Like a lot of Carpenters - fun for about 30 and then gets pretty tedious until it ends.

Somehow a fight between a haunted car and a bulldozer was incredibly boring.

Profoundly not for me.

Fun opening. Starts to drag after and never really recovers. Surprisingly boring despite the premise.
