The Hateful Eight ★★★★

While the final act gets much too messy, the rest of the film is a tight, borderline masterpiece exploration of paranoia and blind hatred. On it’s own, the final act is a ton of fun; an ultra-violent neo-western as over-the-top as it is oddly in control. Sadly acts one and two belong to the same film, making The Hateful Eight a flawed but delightful practice in character building and contained storytelling.
