It had been more than 20 years since I’d seen this, I think. Overall, I was delightfully surprised at how much I liked the film. Saw it at The Vista, morning matinee, archival film print— with pauses between reels.
I expected to cringe at the bird effects, but aside from animatronic-looking stuff, the effects didn’t offend my modern eyes. I’m sure the effects were groundbreaking in their era and I hope to find some info on how they shot the birds attacking individual people.
The idea that wealthy attractive Tippi would make a long drive to deliver lovebirds is wacky, but that part of the story is fun to watch.
I’m a sucker for the vintage fashion, cars, architecture, and interiore design.
Loved the slow assembly of the birds on the playground as the kids sing & Tippi faces the other direction.
