Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

Not as funny as I thought it would be. Very pleased that they didn't give it a stereotypically "happy" ending though.

  • Les Misérables

    Les Misérables

I didn't expect to enjoy this film much at all, but after I got over the initial shock that every single line of dialogue is sang in verse – rather than other musicals that I've seen which have regular dialogue interspersed with the occasional outbreak of song – it became a hugely dramatic, exciting and emotional story.

I'd not read the book and wasn't familiar with any of the songs, but this was an enjoyable, if very Hollywood-ified, introduction to Les Mis.

    Jeff, Who Lives at Home

Much more of an indie film than I expected, especially given the big-name actors. The film is very amateurly shot, and definitely doesn't feel like it's had the Hollywood treatment. A slow, slightly-awkward and melancholy comedy, but very human, and very enjoyable.

  • Tales of the Night

    Tales of the Night

A nice idea for an animated film, but the tales are very slow and predictable. Very moralistic but not exactly thrilling to watch.
