The only review I can give this is it's exactly what you would expect of it going in. Nothing more, nothing less. It just is.
I can honestly say I've never seen a film that hits it out of the park the way SPEED RACER does. This is one of the most visually stunning films I've ever seen, and it sets out to be exactly what it was meant to be - an adaptation of a cartoon.
I'm completely gutted that I've waited 10 years to watch this and that I haven't had the chance to see it on the big screen yet.
It took a premise and characters one would otherwise not give two shits about and brought to the table what is needed from Hollywood blockbusters.
A breathtaking pastiche and non-confrontational look at Canadian life in remote regions in the 70s on the surface.
There's obviously a lot glossed over, but it is a short film that was meant to show the beauty of our landscape moreso than anything else.
Watched it back to back at the CINESPHERE (first in laser then stuck around for the 70mm projection afterwards)
This flick made me hecka dizzy
