    Even though Wild at Heart isn’t the masterpiece that Mulholland Drive is, it’s still a highlight of Lynch’s filmography. Incredibly goofy, sexy, and weird, this movie is Natural Born Killers with less murder and more speed metal. Highly recommended.

    What starts off as a seedy Oz-sploitation flick quickly becomes a rather profound examination of identity, destiny, and the eternal conflict between civilization and the perceived threat of barbarism. Wake in Fright masterfully uses its backdrop of Australian outback to capture a mood of alienation and despair in a manner reminiscent of George Miller's Mad Max franchise.     No director embodies the films as dreams trope as well as Fellini. 8 1/2 is the ultimate evidence of that. This film creates a narrative in which dreams and reality exist side-by-side, each informed by the other. Images abound with eroticism and tropes of sadism and masochism. Though I personally find La Dolce Vita to be more entertaining, it's undeniable that 8 1/2'a visuals are the strongest of Fellini's black & white period.

    This would be a great movie for someone who hates movies and thinks that saying swears counts as a joke.
