and taught they were. both sides. such a smug little movie. considering that it lowkey drops the ball during the last act it sure pretends to be more kickass than it is. will make a nice double feature with Cabin in the Woods or Ready or Not but is a much lesser film than either and suffers from a real slow patch during the middle.
the political message is kept very surface level for my taste as well and it feels like they cater to the lowest common denominator without much fanfare. i’m not sure how Lindelof & Cuse ended up writing something like this after pulling up with that banger season for Watchmen tbh. whole lotta fun though and Betty Gilpin is big star material. need her and Kristen Connolly to head smth together.
