La Llorona 2019
Spooky and demanding, La Llorona tells the story of retired General Enrique Morales, a man accused of atrocities against the Mayan peoples of Guatemala. Ethnic cleansing. Genocide.
We watch as the General becomes more on edge, his world collapsing around him. His people rebelling. His family losing faith. His health failing.
This is not going well for him, and despite the outcome of his trial leading to some short term respite, the spirit of a wronged victim will not rest.…

there’s a line in you’ve got mail where tom hanks tells meg ryan he would give her a bouquet of sharpened pencils, and i thought it was the most romantic thing ever, but now i realize what i would like even more than that is a bouquet of fresh baguettes. this is effortless & timeless by the way.

Metamorphoses 2014
I usually love Christophe Honoré's work. This film was visually compelling, but otherwise the story was muddled. The acting was just okay.
However, the good news is that it is on Kanopy. I finally found it after searching for it for years and years.
