Replace Daniel Kaluuya’s character with me in this movie and it perfectly describes the daily oppression I face as a Spy Kids 3 fan

“…it’s clear, with this movie, that Peele has a big love for Steven Spielberg movies, because more so than any film he’s made, this feels like his grandest achievement when it comes to awe inspiring visuals. What he’s done in this movie with the cinematographer is astounding. I have never in my lifetime seen nighttime sequences this gorgeous. I’m not entirely sure how they did it. I am blown away.”

Wow, it’s been a while, huh? Sorry for going AWOL on Marvel reviews. Work has been insane. So because of that, maybe it’s because it’s been a while, but I thought Ant-Man was a great time, and one of the most creative heist movies of all time - if, of course, you look at it through the lens of it being a family-friendly superhero flick. If you take that lens off, it’s a bit messy - the most noticeable bit…

I feel like I’m one of the few people out there that really likes Iron Man 3. However, I don’t love it. Which is a shame, because it’s not only brilliantly acted and filmed much like the other 2 Iron Man movies, but I also absolutely adore the more serious tones it takes towards the relationships of the characters, and how it explores the mental affects of them after an event such as what happened in The Avengers. The more…

Thor is a weird movie that leaves me feeling a little mixed. I liked it more than I didn’t, and it’s certainly more entertaining and interesting than Captain America: The First Avenger, but it still seems to suffer from not doing enough with its premise, and focusing too much on side characters that ultimately don’t add to anything after Thor appears on Earth. Mix that in with some very cool action sequences that don’t happen enough, and brilliant comedic moments that…

    Iron Man 2 2010

    Jim Caddick

    ★★★★ Watched by Jim Caddick 03 Apr 2020 3

A fair bit simpler than the first, and a little bit messy compared to the details found in the original (swearing being bleeped on live courtroom TV? And HOW THE HELL DID A RANDOM SKETCHY-LOOKING RUSSIAN END UP IN THE MONACO GRAND PRIX?!), but aside from the issues - Iron Man 2 delivers wonderfully as an action movie with memorably badass setpieces, and as a natural progression of the relationships between the great characters. The dialogue flows brilliantly and the…

    ★★★★ Watched by Jim Caddick 09 Aug 2022 2

The comedy doesn’t always land, but it’s enough of an extremely fun and creatively shot movie to not enjoy all the way through. Sadly though, the best thing about it is sometimes the worst - it never knows when to slow the hell down. Like a…..bullet train. Oh.
