The Worst Person in the World

The Worst Person in the World ★★★★

Life is a series of bad decisions. A lot of them made in the spur of the moment. Yes, they're bad, but there's something about the spontaneity of living that gives the adventure of life both excitement and chaos. Joachim shows us how Julie is an embodiment of this specific outlook on life and I love every second of it.
The chapter by chapter structure of this film mirrors life itself. Some chapters are vignettes that depict brief phases in our lives and others are long and tedious stretches that we struggle to get through. I understand why some audiences will be annoyed by Julie but this film's depiction of the fickle mind of young people is so spot on. Everything about this film, both technically and thematically is highly competent. Joachim's script is boldly fresh and Renate's and and Anders's performances are heart wrenching(the break up scene lawd! 😣).
I need more semi romantic comedies like this.
