A phenomenal upgrade of a personal favorite, the new 2K restoration on the Kino Lorber release is beyond remarkable. It's like watching it all over again for the first time. So glad they're rescuing films like this from the oblivion of YouTube.

This is still firmly entrenched in an era of TV movies that boasts somewhat uniform production value across the board, but it remains genuinely unnerving at times almost entirely because of the performances of the two leads. It's not that Colla's filmmaking isn't a factor either, though, with plenty of dynamic cross-cutting throughout that raises the tension quite effectively.

Had never seen this before, for whatever reason. Anyway, it totally fucking rules and I had no idea Donald E. Westlake was behind it.

Everyone keeps asking why Chappelle cares so much about litigating the rights of transgender people, but he outright says at the beginning of the special that he's jealous of the increasing acceptance of members of the LGBTQ community by society, particularly as compared to the struggles of black men and women in this country. He even illustrates it via an early anecdote, stressing that "they're a minority, until it's convenient for them to be white." It's easy to see how…
