Tenet ★★★★

Nolan's latest is a gloriously nonsensical whatsit that's more pure fun than many of its harshest critics seem to be willing to admit. I think I might have loved it?

Like, cool, it's not that hard to get ahead of what's happening here (in fact, I think maybe we're *supposed* to get ahead of it at some point), but that doesn't change just how goddamn entertaining it all is.

I did just go ahead and throw on the subtitles to be safe, though. Can't speak to whether or not they were strictly necessary, but I will say that I think it's less the sound mix than the sheer *amount* of important dialogue that's happening forwards-and-backwards at the same time. Which is the sound mix, yes. It's complicated because no one's tried to assemble things this way before, and we haven't had to parse information in this way before.
