I see the Step Up franchise in this and I don’t like it. A few great numbers and yes I cried bc any movie with a Proud Dad character makes me cry but a lot of the emotional beats felt drowned out/skipped over or unearned. I wanted this to be a better documentary for this subject matter. Why did they interview the guy who took pictures of the “umbrella incident”?? Why were most of the interviewees people who worked at the awful gossip mags that contributed to the toxic tabloids of the 2000s? Why did the backdrop look like a random influencer wall you’d drive past in la?
