Kieslowski creates a world that is whimsical yet foreboding and brimming with mystery. Existentially heavy while also intrinsically meditative. A daydream that captures the staggering beauty of everyday life and the scenes that play when our eyes are shut tight even just for a moment’s notice. An extension of consciousness come to life, the evolution of thought and being. Do we have a cosmic twin or a spiritual companion? We need not know all the answers but revel in the possibilities of our intricate make up. This is one of the films that truly made me fall in love with cinema and has provided endless inspiration. An exploration, celebration and scrutinization of the human psyche and the fragile, gorgeous world it inhabits.
