Dunkirk ★★★★★

Dunkirk is an intense, immersive, gripping, and thrilling film all the way through. This is possibly Christopher Nolan's best work as a director, which is impressive as he's already given us some of the best films of the 21st century.

Nolan's direction is so incredibly impressive. The way he melds the nonlinear structure together couldn't have been done better. Nolan's direction really takes you into the film, the movie demands to be seen on the biggest screen you possibly can (if you have the chance to see it in IMAX 70mm, please do so). The immersive feel of the film really helps build the suspense of the film overall, I've never felt so edge of my seat nervous watching a movie in a very long time.

The film itself looks dazzling,it's another gorgeous collaboration between DP/Cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema and Nolan. Everything is shot so beautiful (again see this in IMAX 70mm) and it's honestly just breathtaking to look at.

Hans Zimmer score is killer, with the combination of the orchestra and the ticking of a watch the score really helps build the overall momentum of the film.

Instead of just focusing on a single character, the film focuses on the actual scenario itself. This might turn some people off, but for me it actually made the movie feel more real. The performances all around are great and yes Harry Styles is actually really good here.

Dunkirk is another masterpiece from Christopher Nolan. It's a terrific war thriller that keeps you at the edge of your seat from start to finish. Did I mention to see this in IMAX 70mm if you can?
