Now that TLJ has been out for nearly a year, and my recency bias has worn off, I can now fully come to the conclusion that it has replaced Empire as my personal favorite SW movie. Empire was a colossal film in terms of narrative and effects back in the day, but I feel TLJ exceeds in all the aspects that made Empire so renowned. After three decades have passed in the future, I'm sure TLJ is going to be looked upon with similar favor to Empire.
