Can Nolan ever get more Nolan than this?
A solid film that not only focuses on the death row inmate but also the human toll it takes on the people and their personal lives that have to carry out and witness these executions. Great performances and some powerful scenes. This is not “just another wrongfully convicted death row inmate story” that we’ve seen before.
You don't choose a life, you live one.
It's movies like this that restores my faith in cinema. Not The Dark Knight, not The Avengers or even Skyfall, but movies like The Way. Unfortunately this movie never made it wide release and was only a limited release.
I absolutely loved this movie. The story of the movie is heartfelt and meaningful, but the director Emilio Estevez makes it feel like it's a fun journey. From start to finish this movie…
Surprising very good, The Way, Way Back is warm, fresh, funny, light-hearted, feel good, and one of the better films of the year. The performances are good all around but Sam Rockwell in particular is absolutely hilarious. The music selection is great and it really helps you connect with the central character- Duncan. With the perfect mix of comedy and drama, this is one of the best coming-of-age movie out there and now one of my favorite of the year.
