Josh Needle’s review published on Letterboxd:
My audience for this included a woman who wouldn’t stop providing audio commentary, another woman who threatened to go get the manager and get her kicked out (after which the first woman laughed), a couple next to me to who were either really drunk or just super emotional people because they were literally sobbing half the movie, and an elderly woman who moved seats at the beginning because she didn’t like how loud the guy next to her was eating popcorn...only to fall asleep within the first hour.
So that was...interesting.
Weird theater experience aside, Just Mercy is a great movie with great acting that’s WAYYY too long but still powerful as hell. It’ll piss you off, make you cheer, and bring a tear to your eye all within the third act, and it was simply excellent.
