every time i watch this/read things about it/am broadly reminded of it, etc., i do feel obligated to remind everyone that we almost endured this movie being made and winning all the things it won with emma watson and miles teller in the lead roles, and we should all consider ourselves lucky that this, even with its problems (far more obvious on rewatch!), is what we have instead. emma watson and miles teller. we should not fear death.
on one hand: a serviceably made, really kind of sad documentary about childhood mental illness, parental grief, and urban legend - topics i find rly interesting in general and as someone who also spent her youth trawling through ghost stories online (candle cove am i right)
on the other hand: had to hear richard 'dick' dawkins say "that's the definition of a good meme" which ruined possibly my entire life
