saw this with two people who expected to love it and hated it. i expected to hate it and...didn't hate it? i wish i hated it! don't get me wrong, shit's dumb and awful on almost every conceivable critical level (most specifically: you know what nobody loves about eighties movies? their gender politics! don't keep those!) and i can think of at least ten things i'd change about it off the top of my head that'd make it even a smidge better, but you know what? i'm a simple woman. i like haunted houses and bright colours and mark rylance in a bad wig doing a silly voice. shut your brain off for a couple hours and think about how much you want to shove ernest cline in a locker later.
