one thing i love about cronenberg is that he's really good at setting up a trusted voice/solution in his films and then having them fall prey to whatever virus/monster we're following. one thing i do not love about cronenberg is that he has nobody to tell him to toss the post-it from his idea wall with the words "ravenous elbow pussy" on it

"so it is god who has dictated how you dress?"

watched on recommendation from my dearest lara after discussing my dissertation on gina pane, and i was really astounded by how similar a lot of shots are to the pane's performance photographs. who else would show up then, other then antonin artaud, who my supervisor advised i should look to in my research! sometimes things really do come together.

if a comparison to an artist i adore enough to write a dissertation on doesn't make it clear - this is a beautiful, intense, excellent film. falconetti's performance as jeanne d'arc is outstanding.

i think it would be really really funny if we all started saying bradley cooper is our favorite director. even and especially if it’s not true. “who’s your favorite film director?” why it’s auteur bradley and his one movie of course
