    Desperation, degradation and dark decisions define the characters of Germany Year Zero, but more importantly they define the whole state of post-war Germany. What was, at the time, a current and probably shocking look at what was going on in Germany is now an invaluable historical document, showing exactly just how defeated Germans dealt with their diminished status and destroyed dominion. It’s a wide-ranging eye-opening examination of a society at its most desperate.

    Isle of Dogs is such an easy film to watch. Its emphasis on the importance of kindness and the essential bond between humans/dogs make this as moving as any other Wes Anderson film, although maybe it didn’t plumb the emotional depths that Wes has done in the past.
