A Man Escaped 1956
Meticulous beyond belief. What should be mundane becomes utterly compelling through exhaustive, deliberate repetition of the preparation for escape. Will add more later but I can't wait to see more of Bresson's work.

The Northman 2022
Everything horny/elemental/visceral in this should have been an extra five minutes longer or less sanded down (don't cower away from the draugr, you already have prophecy and gods in play - go crazy!). Weird disconnect between the midpoint twist and Eggers playing the revenge story straight - Amleth barely registers this new information, avenging the image of his father instead of the man he really was. Enjoyed the film most when it indulges in viscera (i.e. the initial Viking raid and everything in the volcano).

Day 53 watching Ford v Ferrari. Time is a flat circle. All I can see is racetrack. I don't even know what a transmission is but I keep nodding like I understand. When will this nightmare end?
