As a part one of a two part movie it's difficult for me to get invested in something that's pretty much all preamble. That aside the scale of this film is massive - so many gigantic sets and backgrounds that make our characters look like ants. Nice to see a blockbuster that looks like it was worth millions for a change. Surprisingly faithful to the book too - so why despite all this is it so dimly lit you can't even see the giant sandworms?
