I had no idea what this movie was about and I found it extremely sad. I think its structure is great, because it tells you information little by little and by the time it shows you what's really happening it's a punch to the gut. Everyone involved is amazing (including the kids), which helps you to sympathize with every single character. It's kind of minimalistic in its approach to characters, but you still connect to them. I would really recommend it.
I could not connect with this story AT ALL. I didn't see the chemistry between the two lovers, I never once believed their story, and honestly, I got really bored.
I think Armie Hammer did a FANTASTIC job but he was still miscast. There was no way I believed he was in his twenties. Not even for a second.

After the disappointing second installment, this was GREAT. I really liked everything that had to do with the apes at the beginning. The murder of Caesar's family really got to me and I really connected with his story and his development as a character.
