Opera ★★½

Horror Hunt #35: May 2021

Bonkers and disturbing fun! Weird, macabre Italian horror. It's got all the elements of an intriguing thriller/suspense. An initial unsettling incident at the beginning involving a diva soprano. Young woman in peril narrative. Serial killer on the loose. Trauma. Revenge. Scary ravens out for blood. All this within the grand confines of an opera house! Intriguing and silly, but one hell of a ride, especially towards the last 20 minutes. The dubbing was distracting though, and gave it an amateurish, campy feel. However, OPERA is gorgeously shot. An Italian revamping of Phantom of The Opera. And once the serial killer is revealed, he is h-o-t as serial killers go.
