Ian West’s review published on Letterboxd:
Has something to say and says it well while never falling into the gimmick category. Grant is fantastic and Kermani’s direction is tight and precise. Love what’s going on here, and how this feels more real than whatever 80’s synth filled throwback could hope to conjure, Lucky takes the candy coating out of those offerings and blends its topical themes nicely while never feeling as heavy handed as most modern films dealing with this content… which is a damn blessing in this age.
Managed to strike a nerve with me as far as real life isolation and the slimy contrarian disbelief politics that run rampant in everyday life—Wouldn’t feel as real in lesser hands.
Happy Life Day.
