Note to self: re-watch this on a big screen in 4K. Holy shit it looked amazing even on a monitor. Probably the most visually beautiful animated film I've seen. That detail. I haven't really seen much modern anime to compare it to... does it usually look this good?
Even though it's fantasy, it seems to portray Japanese society well, as far as I know. That all combined with a suspenseful and well crafted plot (although confusing af for the first 15 minutes) here's one of the top films I've seen this year. Not sure if I liked the time travel component though, it didn't seem to fit that well. Gotta watch this again to decide if it could be worth 5 stars.
