I've only seen two films of Lanthimos' but I have to say I liked this one a lot more than I did The Lobster. I really loved The Favourite, Colman, Weisz, and Stone give maybe the best performances of their entire careers. The writing is fantastic, when people told me this was a funny comedy I was like "eh it doesn't look like one" but man it's actually really funny. The way the film portrays the imbalanced power dynamics of the three main characters is so interesting and leads to a really tragic ending that kind of depressed me. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves movies because I think this one has a sort of mass appeal you don't really see in many other Oscar favorites.
