    Really enjoyed this film. Great depiction of a man getting squeezed from all sides, trying to maintain his composure in a gritty, dog-eat-dog 80's New York setting. Oscar Isaac just gets better with every role, and is supported well by the other players here. Other reviewers likening him to Pacino are spot on, although I'd much rather watch Isaac these days than Pacino (who just seems to just play Al Pacino in every role).

    Colin Firth shines in this as a buttoned-down English professor trying to maintain a veneer of composure whilst slowly losing his battle against an immense heartbreak. Firth is always brilliant in this type of role, the loveably stiff Englishman wrestling with his emotions, and this extremely gentle, on-the-verge-of-giving-up incarnation is no exception.
