• What Sex Am I?

    What Sex Am I?

this definitely was very dated in the way it navigates being trans and showcases the steps of self-discovery that trans people take during their journeys, but it was honestly great to see real trans people from almost 40 years ago share their authentic experiences.

while not the ideal way to handle the subject matter, i really do appreciate this doc for what it is.

absolutely loved this! i loved okuno’s short film Slut and had high hopes for this, and this totally met those expectations.

the horror in this is so subtle, yet effective, due in part to the cinematography. the way maika is framed in several scenes, whether that’s in reflections, through windows, or framed by the architecture around her, she’s always being watched, even when the watcher isn’t around. such a great film!!!

brb getting married to rob pattinson to this song!!!

on a serious note, overall this was good and had a lot going for it! the action scenes, the incredible score, sweaty emo robert pattinson; the works! however, the pacing and overall length of this movie is ridiculous, and the story devolving into what it did (a failed social commentary about the corruption of policing institutions and the effects that hoarding wealth has on the individual and the society around them…featuring…

    Certain Women

something about seeing women continuing through their lives and achieving some sort of satisfaction despite their livelihoods dominated by external factors outside of their control is so reaffirming…

kirsten dunst’s indescribable sadness would have worked so well in this film.

  • Tenebre

not necessarily my favorite argento film, but after reading up more on it, i guarantee i will appreciate it more in future viewings.

  • Love, Simon

    Love, Simon

this movie depicts a very privileged & cookie-cutter depiction of coming out and it promotes ethics of queer tolerance, rather than freedom, but still the most problematic thing about this film is the fact that bram was making out with a minion at the halloween party…like wtf is up with that???

  • Fire Island

boys by charli xcx, heart to break by kim petras, jason AND whole life by perfume genius, and sometimes by britney spears needle drops (including a britney cover by muna)…i collapsed several times throughout this film!!!
