I worked with someone recently who had also been in Ash vs Evil Dead and was very disappointed to hear that Raimi and Campbell do not like this movie and don’t consider it canon.
It’s such a bold move for the franchise that shifts it dangerously close to family friendly territory without sacrificing the essential oddness of the premise.
Bruce Campbell is a MOVIE STAR here in a way that we would never see again. The windmill sequence is evidence enough of his skill as a performer.
I see nothing to be ashamed of here. Big, loud fun with a lot of invention. -
