"It is our delusions that lead us to sin."
The Devil All the Time is a dark and violent film exploring the pointless reality of some of the unsteady principles of religion. It presents itself by making us believe and understand the system's capacity to blind people's minds, eventually twisting the concept of morality by creating monsters who make decisions that are basically devoid of fair and concrete bases. The film takes the one-note approach in telling the story by keeping the bleak atmosphere all throughout. It is actually a bit heavy-handed that is only elevated by the performances of its star-studded cast. Nevertheless, it is still an effectively absorbing drama about miserable people that leaves us properly conflicted with all the themes presented.
