"Just because you have thoughts doesn't mean you have to act on them. Being alone in the world is the root of all suffering. But, Jerry, you're not alone."
The Voices is a strangely appealing dark comedy starring Ryan Reynolds in his most ridiculous performance ever. While it may not look good on paper, Marjane Satrapi succeeds in directing the story with nuance and setting its varied tones, especially that it is revolving around Jerry, a schizophrenic man with murderous tendencies. It is definitely not your typical psycho film that carelessly characterizes the protagonist. It is just so good that I got to emphathize with Jerry and felt so bad about him at the end.
