Lots of things to like here, including the art direction, but Annihilation also is rather unbalanced. The horror-like elements don't fit that well. The ending doesn't really satisfy.
I thought Ex Machina was a more complete and polished package, but still look forward to whatever Alex Garland does next. As I have since reading The Beach in the nineties!
