Some of the loneliest times in my life have been while I was in relationships, and this film really nails that experience.

At the same time, I've also had the good fortune of meeting someone and feeling like you've known them your whole life. It might be while on a trip, or at a bar, or at a concert, etc.

You get to talking with someone and it feels like you got very mildly electrocuted. They ask if you want…

"How much of Cole's blood do we need? Can I just rip off a limb? Drain it? Which hand do you use to jerk with? I'll take the other one."

I'm surprised how much I enjoyed this! I liked the first one well enough, but this one was even better.

A really good time from beginning to end. Well-paced with tons of jokes, and a good amount of gore. This is a comedy with horror elements, but is very much…

I'm so glad I got to watch this in theaters last night as a special 40th anniversary event. I was pretty sure I had seen this before, but now I'm fairly certain I hadn't.

This movie is gnarlier than it has any right to be. The effects still look great 40 years later. Kurt Russell is the man. Carpenter is the man.

It added to the experience that I was sitting near a woman who kept jumping everytime something startling would happen. This was very fun to watch with a crowd, and in particular, it was awesome to see it on the big screen.

I watched an interview with Robert Eggers where he said that this is the most historically accurate Viking movie ever made, and I believe it. There's a lot of weird shit in this - in a good way. Willem Dafoe is basically a jester, which might be one of the greatest castings I've ever seen.

Another thing Eggers said that I think helped me better contextualize this, is that the things the protagonist does in this movie are based on…

    "Long live the new flesh!"

I rewatched this in preparation of seeing Crimes of the Future this week.

4 stars feels too low for this, and it could easily be 5 stars. I try not to put too much thought into how many stars I give, but I find myself going back and forth on this one.

To start, I love Videodrome. Cronenberg is one of my favorite directors of all time, and this movie fucking rules. I watched this…
