Part of my 5 Directors x 5 Unseen Films Challenge
"You want to talk to God? Let's go see him together, I've got nothing better to do."
Now, I really, really liked this and I wanted to love it like I love Star Wars, Jurassic Park and other such classics but it just didn't draw me in. Now, don't get me wrong. It's an incredibly well-made film and thoroughly enjoyable, however I don't have the urge to watch it again. Like, I could watch Star Wars on repeat. I can't say the same for Indy, and that's a shame as it is definitely deemed a classic.
Of course the film is still a masterclass in directing and John Williams score is such a perfect companion to it. One of the best scores in cinematic history, no doubt. Some of the acting from characters other than Harrison Ford or John Rhys-Meyers was sub-par and the pacing was off. This definitely seemed longer than two hours.
Who knows? Maybe in time, I will find the urge to watch this again, but for now, I'm happy I watched it but it won't find itself in elite status for me...yet.
