I love the idea of bringing unresolved grief to life as a an anxiety-inducing creature that literally won't go away. That is the result of a failure to address a traumatic experience. In that regard, The Babadook is a very original piece of cinema. It's also an excellent example of the brilliant use of sound. Beautiful. I will say that the film did begin to test my patience after a while but give me another viewing of this, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it even more.
