Nice build-up to that little joke at the end. Enjoyed the whole thing though.

Interview with the Vampire 1994
First off, Eliot Goldenthal’s score is powerful, in a year that had quite a few heavy hitters. Pitt, Cruise, and Dunst together here: it’s quite a show! The horror of everything is not so overwhelming but it did make my skin crawl. It’s mostly a solid movie, but the third act, despite it being where the film really showed some heart, seemed to be a little too uninteresting. The final scene, also, was a little too typically Tom Cruise-y for my liking.
Terrific film. -
The African Queen 1951
This is a movie, I guess. The scene where Bogart tosses a cigarette and the “natives” fight for it is certainly a scene of this movie’s time. Threw me off there. Hepburn and Bogart are both a joy to watch here, but I can’t say that this movie had much to offer me.

Four Weddings and a Funeral 1994
Hugh Grant at his most Hugh Grant. Or is he always this Hugh Granty? The ending is pure drivel, but this is such an enjoyable film to watch.

Dark Waters 2019
I feel like my idea of “horror film” has broadened over time, and Dark Waters is certainly one of them. Both Haynes and Ruffalo show restraint in their respective duties and that is great, here. Get out of the way and let the horrors of our society do the talking. Amazing.

Vanilla Sky 2001
What an interesting film. It feels like this weird early 2000’s Hollywood make-it-mainstream-but-also-a-little-avant-garde experiment which works in unexpected ways. The music choices really stood out to me, and sometimes the incoherence is charming. It feels like it shouldn’t work, but it does.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) 2020
Story-wise, character-wise, style-wise, this film’s got great energy and personality.

Little Shop of Horrors 1986
Lovely songs. Rick Moranis is in it, and it’s enjoyable in little moments, but not quite the party I was hoping.

The Talented Mr. Ripley 1999
More unsettling than I remember it being. Some 'interesting' American accents here, but otherwise, this movie is made so easy to appreciate by the chemistry between the actors. They're all just great to watch.
