Well. I’m giving the actual film a 3/5, but the shoehorned Cloverfield nonsense a nothing/5 because it makes no sense. Just give me another found footage monster movie, please.
When the credits finally rolled, I couldn't bring myself to leave my seat. For ten minutes I sat motionless, feeling all sorts of emotions as everything settled.
Blade Runner 2049 is a sci-fi masterpiece, one that grounds itself in art and noir and color much more than it does in fantasy. It serves to amplify the themes of the original film, retroactively making it a better movie (which I'm sure none of us expected was possible).
