wonderful how the titular conversation (to which much more of the movie pertains than I’d expected) echoes in part, though seldom in full, every couple of minutes, leitmotif-like in its recurrence. knew how i wanted this to close as we approached the end, and it did exactly that. satisfying.

somewhat misses the mark on what made the first so good, i.e. sacrifices huge momentum in favor of a “twist” that halts the pace worse than Barbarian’s. it’s pretty fun and well-put-together (nice cast) but a little too indebted to the current cultural moment. and it’s not quite as fun as it thinks it is. a good time but i probably wont think about this until Knives Out 3 drops

literally screamed when I saw Ethan Hawke, and then he was gone. remember when pics leaked of him on set and ppl thought he was going to be a secret baddie? man
