Noah Schwartz’s review published on Letterboxd:
A fun romp that doesn't hit as strong as it initially did but is a fun romp with campy acting and great special effects for the time. It has some pretty weak scenes, and even though Cabbie is my favorite character by far his role is relegated to a deus ex machina machine, which definitely was the worst of the weak writing. The final scene is brilliant, just wish the story was a bit more polished, as it could have turned this from an iconic film for the time to a masterpiece.
Btw this is my film watch after my own escape from NY, with many more films to come, and watching this film in an airbnb in Connecticut only hours after moving out of my apartment ironically comforted me a lot.
