    Bells Are Ringing

The musical numbers here are not spectacular, but are made all the more memorable due to the dynamic performances from the two leads. Holliday has such a distinct personality and sense of comedic timing, making her the perfect fit for our charismatic lead. Holliday’s mannerisms highlight her constantly engaging humor and help to further illuminate her during the warm, romantic moments. Add a stellar supporting cast, and a innovative director like Carax and this became my most anticipated film of the year. Annette did not disappoint in the slightest, and actually exceeded my already high expectations.

A prior knowledge of Sparks music, definitely helped in my…
