People grieve, plants breathe, (and communes inbreed).
Humans are both at the top and the bottom of the food chain.
Also something about how we will always feel pain and anguish unless we learn to properly mourn and accept our place in the cycle — a rather impossible feat.
Plus something about our relationships with others. And about the fluidity of life...A rewatch would be necessary to fully understand the themes at play in Midsommar.
The cinematography is beautiful, the score is beautiful, and Ari Aster really knows how to write a beautifully happy ending that feels like a flower suddenly blooming after hours of painstakingly unsettling, slow-burned care.
Dani looked like a giant flower slug at the end.
