Dirty Pretty Things ★★★½

This atmospheric movie tackles problems worthy of attention in a thrilling and mostly realistic way, but its impact is not strong enough to leave a lasting impression on the viewer’s mind. It is the skillful, nuanced performance by Chiwetel Ejiofor that holds the movie together and keeps the viewer really engaged; Audrey Tautou complements him nicely. Late in the movie, there is a particular piece of dialogue when the main characters hand over a valuable item in exchange for money that cleverly refers not only to the fact that the man who is picking up the item in question does not recognize them but also to the real-world problems that the movie highlights.
