The Bridge on the River Kwai ★★★★½

This classic, masterfully directed film is more concerned with adventure and drama than with historical accuracy, but that does not detract from its greatness. Carefully paced and absorbing, "The Bridge on the River Kwai" features a multilayered and thematically interesting story, complex characters that are brought to life by an outstanding cast, great cinematography, soldiers whistling the "Colonel Bogey March" as they enter a Japanese prison camp early in the film, and an exciting and impressive finale.
